Install Actual Budget MCP Server for Cursor

Cursor reads ~/.cursor/mcp.json. A project can also commit .cursor/mcp.json.

Needs Cursor or VS Code installed on this device. The button opens the app and asks you to confirm before it adds the server.

  1. Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json on macOS, %USERPROFILE%\.cursor\mcp.json on Windows, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json on Linux.

  2. Paste the JSON config below.

  3. Replace placeholder secrets, then restart the client if it does not reload on its own.

~/.cursor/mcp.json
{  "mcpServers": {    "agigante80-actual-mcp-server": {      "command": "npx",      "args": [        "-y",        "actual-mcp-server@0.27.1"      ],      "env": {        "ACTUAL_SERVER_URL": "",        "ACTUAL_PASSWORD": "YOUR_ACTUAL_PASSWORD",        "ACTUAL_BUDGET_SYNC_ID": "",        "ACTUAL_BUDGET_PASSWORD": "YOUR_ACTUAL_BUDGET_PASSWORD",        "MCP_BRIDGE_DATA_DIR": ""      }    }  }}
