Incident response MCP servers for on-call teams
MCP servers for incident response: pull alerts from PagerDuty, errors from Sentry, logs and metrics from Datadog or Grafana, and draft postmortems.
What to know about Incident response MCP servers
During an incident the slowest part is often gathering context: which alert fired, what changed, which errors spiked, and what the logs say. Incident response servers let an assistant collect that context in one place. The catalog covers alerting tools such as PagerDuty and Opsgenie, error trackers such as Sentry, and observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, New Relic, and Honeycomb.
Combining them is where the value shows. An agent with an alerting server, an observability server, and a Git hosting server can line up the alert time against recent deploys and error traces, then suggest a likely cause. That does not replace an on-call engineer, but it does shorten the first fifteen minutes.
After the incident, the same servers help write the timeline and postmortem from real data rather than memory. Keep write access to alerting tools limited, so an agent cannot silence or resolve pages on its own.

How to install one
- Compare the shortlist. sentry-mcp leads this topic. Open two or three listings and compare their tools, transport, and required API keys.
- Copy the config for your client. Each listing has an install guide, for example Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, or VS Code. The client guides show where each config file lives.
- Scope credentials, then restart. Use the narrowest token or folder the server needs, restart the client, and check that the new tools appear.
Incident response MCP questions
Can MCP servers search production logs?
Yes. Datadog, Grafana Loki, Elastic, and cloud logging servers can run log queries. Ask for narrow time ranges, since broad log searches return far more text than a model can use.
Should an agent be able to acknowledge or resolve alerts?
Reading incidents is safe and useful. Acknowledging and resolving changes who gets paged, so most teams keep those actions with humans or require explicit confirmation.
Which server should I start with for error tracking?
If you already use Sentry, its official server is the natural first step. The Sentry use case lists it alongside the alternatives.
